The Rev. G. Bond, chairman of the district, left by the express last night to attend the Methodist Conference in Chris church.
Mr. Justice Cooper leaves Auckland today for Te Kuiti, where, with. Mr. Justice Chapman, ho -rill consider the Tanmarunui election petition.
.Mr. L. J. Bagnall, accompanied by Miss Bagnall, left by steamer yesterday for Turua, Thames, and Te Aroha. Mr. Bagnall will be absent from the city for about a fortnight.
Dr. A. W. Averill, Anglican Bishop of Auckland, leaves to-day for Paparoa. Afterwards Bishop Averill intends to visit Dargaville and the Northern Wairoa district, returning to Auckland on March 1.
The Hon. John Barr, M.L.C.. of Christ church, and Mr. James Begg, of Dunedin. "both of whom have been in Auckland i-s members of the Foodstuffs Commission, left, for the South by last night's Main Trunk express.
Mr. A. Kinder, of the honorary surgical staff of the district hospital, has been granted leave of absence by the Hospital Board to attend the Medical Congress, which opens on Monday next at Christchurch. Mr. Kinder -will read a paper on "'Acute Spinal Diseases."
Mr. W. J. Rudd, an old resident of Christchurch, who was for a number of years connected with the Government Life Insurance Department, died on Thursday last. Mr. M. Rudd, chief clerk of the Union Steam Ship Company's local branch, and Mr. G. Rudd, of the Auckland Postai Department, sons of the deceased, left on Thursday for Christ-church, to attend the funeral of th£ deceased, which takes place today.
Mr. J. Neale Breden, controller of asset for the Sydney City Council will arrive by the Maheno, which is due at Auckland to-morrow. On Monday morning Mr. Breden. in company with the Mayor, Mr. C. J. Parr, will visit the Auckland fish market and the old market site. Later he will present a report to the Auckland City Council dealing with the municipal fish market and the proposed new city markets.
The death has occurred at Nelson of Miss Frances Haul tain, daughter of the late Colonel Haul lain. After many years in the service of education, first at Miss Greenwood's school in Wellington, then at the Auckland Girls' Grammar School, and subsequently at native schools at Waiotapu and at Okaha, in the Nelson Province, Miss Haultain retired on superannuation, and had lived at Wakefield, Nelson, for the last, five years.
