CONFERENCE OF PLUMBERS.
ADOPTION OF REMITS. [BY TKI.EGBAPH. — r-RESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Wednesday. At the. Plumbers' Conference to-night the following remits were adopted : —That it is necessary fur a universal standardisation of sanitary plumbing by-laws for the Dominion ; that the Plumbers' Boaid he requested to hold at least two examinations for plumbers in each year; that specifications fur new work be set out under plumbing work, otherwise it shall not be included in the estimate ; flashings shall be clearly! specified and shown on plans; details of work to He supplied with first issue of plans or value to be estimated ; drainage plans complete in every detail to be submitted with general plan ; that in the interest of our trade it is unfair competition for local authorities to compete against us ; that tenders be called for, by public tender, on all plumbing for public works, where possible; that on all day work executed for the Public Works Department in connection with the plumbing trade, the Department allow at the rate of not less than 25 per cent, on labour award rates, and not less than 10 per cent, on the wholesale cost of material.
