It was reported at a meeting of the Christ-chorch executive of the Huntly Relief Fund held this afternoon that the local fund totalled £1043 7s Id. Mr. Gilby stated that before the fund was handed over to the Huntly Town Board or to the Public Trustee he considered it incumbent on the executive to make quiL-s sure that the fund was actually needed for the purpose for which, it had been raised. He suggested that if it should be found on inquiry that the whole of the amount was not required in that direction it should be specially earmarked for future requirements and invested in the hands of trustees so as to be immediately available in the case of any other serious mining fatality occurring in the future. Mr. Norden agreed with this view, and moved that the Mayor be requested to visit Huntly with a view to making inquiries on the spot and reporting to the executive as to the exact state of affairs, such visit to be made as soon a- possible a*.! the.
