NUMEROUS ATTRACTIONS.
AUCKLAND'S REGATTA
RACES AND SPORTS
Holiday attractions of all descriptions will vie with each other to-day to win attention from Aucklanders. The great gathering, however, will be the anniversary regatta. The Union Company's steamer Monowai will be the flagship on this occasion and a tender will leave the end of the Queen's Wharf at frequent intervals A band will be in attendance. The first raci> will begin at 9 a.m. The. entries compare favourably with those of last year and there should be some exciting events. All-day tournaments are l>eing held by a number of the bowling clubs. There. will be* sculling and other races at .Merger. as well as a number of Maori aquatic events. The Waikato Caledonian Society will hold a sports meeting at Frankton Junction. At Eden Park, there will be a cricket match between the junior representatives and a team selected bv the Auckland Churches' Association.
'1 ho Takapuna Jockey Club's summer meeting will commence to-day and conclude to-morrow.
Iho ferry and steamship companies advertise, a number of excursions for to-day. The shops kept open last night and will remain open until 6 p.m. to-morrow.
