WAIKUMETE CEMETERY.

♦ Pursuant to representations made to the Mayor, "Mr. 0. J. Parr, by the Civic League as to the unsatisfactory condition of the Waikumete cemetery, a visit of inspection to the locality has been made by the Mayor in company with the superintendent of parks, Mr. J. Pearson. Owing to the original lay-out of the cemetery the Mayor found that its improvement from a beautifying point of view would be difficult. He consider.*, however, that the paths could be improved. Furthermore ho intends to recommend the City Council to acquire an adjoining area of about 20 acres and add it to the burial ground, which is in a congested state.
