LETTERS FROM THE FRONT

SHOTS IMPRESSIONS.

"TOO MANY MACHINES."

Times and Sydney Sun Services.

Qteoeived January 21, 5.40 p.m )

London, January 21.

In a letter from the front a Sikh says: " Bombs at first broke down the mud walls on our front, destroying many trenches. The Germans came in great numbers and we slew them. The dead lay so high that we could not see for corpses. That night they came again, filling the sky with lightnings by a kind of magic secret they possess- Again we slew all. They have too many machines, and these too cunningly contrived, otherwise they are not equal to the Sikhs."
