As eight cadets on the Union Company's training steamer Aparima -will complete their indentures within the next, few weeks, and will be leaving tho vessel to sit tor their examinations as junior officers in the company's service, there will be several vacancies, for which applications are now being received. Successful candidates will be able to join the Aparima before she leaves New Zealand early in February. Up to the present, under the company's training scheme, some 30 officers have qualified fur. and are holding, responsible positions in the company's service.
Tho Auckland Pipe Band, under PipeMajor J. F. Robertson, will play the following programme in the Albert Park this evening:—"42nd March to Tamai." " Heighlan Laddie March," "Glendarnel Highlanders," march "A Man's a Man for a' That.'' air; "Karl Mansfield." inarch: " Midlothian Pine Band," march: " Marquis Huntly, ' strathspey: "The Kilt's My Delight," reel; " Lauchinsidc," retreat; ''Brown-haired Maid," inarch; "Jenny's Bawbee,'- march.
