THE WARSDEN CROSS.

Tnr opinion was expressed by Bishop Averill last night that it was regrettable that tho Marsden Cross was not a mere conspicuous landmark. The cross of grey granite was not visible at a great distance, and it could not be. seen at all from the deck of the Clansman, although that steamer passed close to it. Seeing that the spot where Marsden first set foot in New Zetland was of such great interest to many people, he thought it would be a good idea if a cairn or some similar worn were constructed in a prominent ulato to enable passengers on passing ships to locate tho Marsden Cross.
