The following Extract from the Land Act relatin c to fires en Crown Land 3 is published for the information of campers, picnickers, and others, who are requested to use every precaution to avoid causing fires during the present dry season: — EXTRACT. Subsection 1. Section 34, Land Act. 1908: — " Every person who, -in contravention <f regulations, lights a fire in or near to any forest, wood, or growing timber belonging to the Crown or any other person, whereby or through allowing the fire to spread, any such forest, wood, or timber is destroyed, is liable to a fine not exceeding £50. oi. to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, and shall, in addition thereto, pas to the Crown or person injured the full amount of the damage done, to be assessed by two Justices or a Magistrate, and to be recoverable in like manner as a fine."
