ACCIDENT TO STEAMER

CANADA CAPE ASHORE.

SEVERE GALE AT SUVA.

(Received December 25, 7.30 p.m.) Suva, December 25. Owing to a severe gale the steamer Canada Cape is ashore in Suva Harbour. She has not sustained any damage. Communication with the Labasa wireless station has been interrupted.

The Canada Cape is chartered by the Union Steam Ship Company, and came to Auckland with a full cargo of coal from Newcastle on December 10. On completion of her discharge she loaded for Suva and sailed with a full cargo on December 16, arriving at her destination on Tuesday last. She is a steel screw steamer of 4283 tons, and was built in Northumberland in 1904.
