STOCKS AND SHAKES.
BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY.
Not a great deal of business took place on the sharemarket yesterday, but there was a fairly considerable movement in Waihis. At the first call they opened at 35s 6d, and then advanced to 35s 9d, to 36s 6d, to 375, to 37s 3d, and then closed at 375. Pinal business on the day was effected at 36s 9d and 375, sellers closing at 37s 3d. Talismans were available at 28s 6d, and buyers were prepared to give 28s. Waihi Grand Junctions changed hands at 245, 24s 3d, and 24s 6d.
In standard stocks Bank of New Zealands (fully paid) were looked for at £15 ss. Sellers of New Zealand Insurances asked £5 16s, and buyers quoted £5 12s 6d. Buyers of South British Insurances quoted 81s, but sellers" wanted 82s. Auckland Gas were done at 27s 9d.
