OBITUARY.

AN EARLY SETTLER.

An old resident, Mrs. G. Garrett, passed away at her residence, Eden Terrace, on Saturday, at the age of 80 years. Mrs. Garrett arrived here in the ship Ganges, in October, 1863, and her husband started business as a butcher in Karangahape Road, where they conducted the business for over 40 years. She leaves a family of two sons and three daughters—Messrs. J. W. and J. H. Garrett, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Keyes, and Mrs. Raine, also 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
