WAIKATO SHOW.

NOTABLE EXHIBITION.

STOCK IN GOOD ORDER. QUALITY VERY HIGH. LARGE NUMBER OF ENTRIES. [BY TELEGRAPHSPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Tuesday. The 23rd annual show of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association was opened to-day in fine weather. The entries this year are better than ever before, despite the fact that the reason has bean somewhat dry for stock. The numerical increase has not resulted in any falling off in quality, and there was a general agreement upon the very high standard of the animals exhibited. The improvement in condition and quality is particularly marked in the sheep classes, and the most satisfactory feature of the show is that the average quality is high, apart altogether from the special excellence of the prize winners. The horse section, as a whole, is larger than ever, though a slight decrease is shown in the number of light animals. The cattle section is very well tilled with, splendidly-bred stock, there being especially large numbers in the fat classes. A rise lias also been experienced in the section for pigs this year. A number oi special inducements have been oflered to exhibitors, particularly in the horse section. which includes, besides the usual number of championships, an open competition for the best jumper, in which the prizemoney totals £73.
