NORTHCOTE BOROUGH.
The Northcote Borough Council met last night. Present Messrs. Geo. Fraser (Mayor), E. Still well, A. E. Greenslade, J. B. Tonar, H. H. Huntj T. S. Wallace, R. H. P. Hopkins, and J. T. Fearnley.
Twelve tenders were received for the re-erection of the pumping station at Lake Takapnna, that of Mr. Jas. Giles, of Northcote, at £130, being accepted.
The Birkenhead Council's offer to pump the whole supply of water for Northcote at 8d per 1000 gallons, and an alternative quotation for an auxiliary supply at Is per 1000 gallons, with a minimum payment of £10 per annum, was referred to I the Water Committee for consideration
The foreman of works reported that during the past fortnight 41 chains of footpaths had been tarred and Banded in Princes Street, Church Street, and tho wharf approach. It was reported that the level of Lake Takapuna "had fallen two inches during the past week. Tho inspector of noxious weeds reported that proceedings were about to be taken against all owners of properties not complying with notices to cut down gorse. It was decided to take immediate action to compel owners of properties to cut back hedges where these were overhanging the footpath.
