Mr. F. G. Dalziell, chairman of the Taupo Totara Timber Company, arrived, from Wellington yesterday, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. He will leave for Taupo this morning.
Colonel C. M. Gibbon, Chief of the General Staff, New Zealand Defence Forces, paid a.visit of inspection to Auckland yesterday. He left for Wellington by last evening's Main Trunk train.
The ministerial committee of the Methodist Synod yesterday passed a resolution conveying their "congratulations and good wishes to Mr. F. L. Piime. cxMayor of Auckland, on the occasion of his 89th birthday. Mr. Prime for many years acted as treasurer to the Hume -Mission Fund.
Lieutenant-Colonel J. E. Hume, R.N.Z.A., has arrived in Auckland to take up his duties as temporary officer in command of the Auckland military district.. Colonel C. T. Major, D.5.0.." who recently asked to be relieved <-f the dis trict command, owing to the demands made upon his time by other duties, will resume his position as command, r . f the infantry brigade.
