Mr. A. J. EntricaN has been appointed a trustee of the Auckland Savings Bank vice the late Mr. W. S. Cochrane. Mr. Ales. Macintosh, superintendent in New Zealand for Dalgety and Gi., has returned from a visit to London. Mr. Thomas Hugo, inspector of fire brigades, arrived on a visit from Wellington yesterday, and is staying at the Central Hotel. Mr. J. W. H. Scotland, the aviator, has practically recovered from his recent illness, and there is a probability of his having another trial flight soon, The Caudron biplane has been re-erected. The Hon. W. H. Herries, Minister for Railways, spent yesterday in Te Aroha, He delivered a political address in tha evening. He will visit Morrinsville today, and will return to Te Aroha to-mor-rot*. Dr. Averill, Anglican Bishop of Auckland, has been for the past week in Taumanunui and district. He has held confirmation services in various churches, and has been entertained in the different districts. Mr. W. A. Beddoe, the Canadian Trade Commissioner for New Zealand, visited Morrinsville yesterday. He delivered an address in the evening in connection with Belgian affairs. He will spend the weekend hi Te Aroha. Dr. A. M. Young, who recently left Hawera for London, ha? received a commission in the Field Ambulance Corps of the Lowland Mounted Brigade, and Tim gone into camp at Cupar'. Fife. After some weeks training h.> will go to the front with his regiment. The Rev. Oeorce Bond, who has for seven years been chairman of the Auckland district of the Methodist Church, and for four years in charge of the Grafton Road Church, is ret'rine from active work in the ministry. He his completed 34 years' service in the church, and is cr.fitlrd to retire-. Mr Bond will become a supernumerary minister, and will continue to reside in Auckland.
