THE GOEBEN'S ESCAPE.

NO BLAME ON ADMIRAL. RESULT OF COURT-MARTIAL London, November 12. The Globe says ' that a courtmartial has acquitted Admiral Troubridge of the charge that arose out of the Goeben's escape. When the war broke out Admiral Troubridge was serving in the Mediterranean under Admiral Hiv Berkeley Milne. Questions arose as to whether the escape of the Goebeh and Breslau into the Bosphorug might not have been prevented, and it was officially announced that the conduct and disposition of Admiral Milne in regard to the German vessels had been the subject of the careful examination of the Board of Admiralty, with the result that Their' Lordships had approved the measures taken by him in all respects. The cable apparently indicates that RearAdmiral Troubridge has also been absolved from blame. It was recently announced that the Admiralissimo of the .French Fleet, Vicc-Admiral Bone do Lapeyrere, had assumed command of the combined Anglo-Fronch fleet in the Mediterranean. As a consequence, Admiral Sir. Berkeley Milne, Bart., who was.senior to this officer, had given over the command of the Mediterranean Fleet and returned Home. He took with him the force, of battle-cruisers which had been under his command at Malta, leaving only : ' four a armoured cruisers and "a four ' light cruiser?,: with destroyers and submarines. These passed automatically under the command of Rear-Admiral Ernest Troubridge, and were associated with the French forces, under the French, admiral, who is "really his senior. Tim neutrality of Italy gave .the.• Entente an 'overwhelming naval 'preponderance in the Mediterranean, • and the ..withdrawal' of Sir Berkelev Milne the result. :;:'-: . •'•-.'•'':-- ; -'- .
