FRENCH CHASSEUR'S FEAT,. In a temporary hospital at Nevers lies a wounded French Chasseur named Leon, Foamier, j the story of whose heroism deserves to be recorded. In a hot skirmish between the French and German infantry Foamier and his friend, Private Issele, found themselves alone under fire. Nothing daunted the Frenchmen lay down and returned the fire until Issele was wounded. Founder then hoisted his friend on his shoulders a.nd carried him under a hail of bullets in the direction of the French lines. His way was barred by four Prussians, but happily he had kept his rifle. Laying TiTs wounded friend in a hollow he used the only two cartridges he; had left and brought down two of the enemy. The two remaining Prussians came on at the double with fixed bayonets. Tho Frenchman, however, did not wait for them, but charged, drove his bayonet through one man and grappled with the other.
