THE PRIME MINISTER.
The Prime Minister loft Auckland yesterday afternoon by the 4.25 p.m. train, and proceeded to Pukekohe, where' he was welcomed and entertained at dinner by the members of the local branch of the Reform League. Alter delivering a political address in the evening, Mr. Massev went on to Wellington by the night express.
To-day s cablegrams state that the Germans .were defeated at. Neudenburg, and that the Russians have occupied Soldau, which is south of Neudenburg. The Russians have also occupied Goldap and Lyck, shown on the East Prussian frontier. From Poland the Russians have advanced to Mreschkow, which is in German territory south-east of Posen. In Galicia the Russians are concentrating on Przemysl, and are driving the Austrian rearguard towards Cracow,
