The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have fixed : tho first Sunday in the Now Year as a day of prayer and intercession oil; behalf of the King and Empire, the allies and their soldiers and sailors, and also as a day of remembrance for those who have fallen in battle. Tho King has approved the proposal and has stated that he considered the beginning of tho year to be a fitting occasion. . The archbishops also announce that the Roman Catholic and Nonconformist Churches have agreed to similarly observe the day.
