THE TERRITORIALS.
TRAINING TO RESUME.
SUPPLY OF OFFICERS.
PROGRAMME OF WORK.
Active training of the territorials and senior cadets, which was interrupted to some extent by the mobilisation of the expeditionary force, will be resumed on November 1. On that date the scheme outlined by General Sir lan Hamilton, ' when Inspector-General of the Overseas Forces, will be brought into operation. Vacancies caused through officers being posted to the expeditionary force will be filled by units calling up their reserve officers. In cases where there are, not sufficient reserve officers it is provided that promotion, on probation, may bo made from the ranks of the non.commissioned officers. Failing this source of supply, recommendations for the appointment, of officers from outside sources may ho made. All such officers will be transferred to the reserve when their services are no longer required. With a view to bringing territorial units up to their correct establishment, riflo clubs volunteering for the purpose may be embodied in a unit as a troop or squadron, a platoon or company, according to the numbers required. The members of these rifle clubs will bo transferred to the reserve when their services are no longer required. The Government hopes to be able to issue rifles and uniforms to men joining territorial units in such circumstances. Group and Area Officers.
