NEW ZEALAND RELIEF.
SCHEME OF OPERATION. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDEX*.] ]iONDov, August 21. The ladies' committee appointed by thd New Zealand War Contingent Association has lost no time in formulating .a "policy of activity. TKe committee has discarded a number of schemes of general almsgiving in favour of work which can be properly regarded as associated with the war. Three ladies' committees have been set tip — a sewing committee, a bedding committee and a comforts committee, and already small parties of ladies are busy making a, canvass in the proper quarters for assistance.
The idea is to obtain somewhere within a few miles of London a largo house which can bo conveniently fitted up as a convalescent nursing home for New Zealand wounded and invalids who have been sent back from the theatre of war. _ The minimum accommodation, upon which a start would be made, would be 20 beds, but it is hoped that a, house can be secured which would permit of expansion to 50 beds if the scheme developed as expected. Ladies are now engaged canvassing for the equipment of the home, and organising guilds to do the necessary sewing. Another committee is to purchase such comforts as tobacco'for till troops in the field.
