A report that Antwerp has born occupied by the Germans has com.' to the Prime Minister from the Home authorities. His information is that the Belgian forces evacuated the city, thus allowing the German forces to occupy it unopposed. The object of this, it is officially stated, was to avoid the Belgian Army being put out of effective action by being cooped up in the fortress for an indefinite period, and also to save the city from destruction by the German siege artillery.
