TURKEY HAKES WARLIKE PREPARATIONS.
GERMAN GENERAL ASSUMES COMMAND IN SYRIA. MAXIMS MOUNTED IN FORTS ON THE DARDANELLES. (Received October 11, 7.30 p.m.) London, October 10. The correspondent of the Daily News at Athens states that the German General Von Goch has arrived at Damascus, and has assumed direction of tho Syrian troops. He is also recruiting from tho Bedouins. It is also reported from Athens that German officers have installed 42 Maxims in the forts of the Dardanelles and Bosphorus.
