PLIGHT OF ANTWERP UNDER BOMBARDMENT .
TERRIBLE DAMAGE BY BOMBS AND SHELLS. BELGIAN KING LEAVES THE CITY FOR GHENT. Ostend, October 9. The bombardment of Antwerp caused terrible damage.. Incendiary shells were fired into the city between South Antwerp and the Law Courts. Six Zeppelins on Wednesday night dropped bombs on the Palace of Justice, which was partly destroyed. Borgerhont, an eastern suburb of Antwerp, is burning. The authorities of the Zoological Gardens at Antwerp shot the dangerous carnivorous animals lest the bombardment should break their cages and release the animals. The principal attack is from the south-east. Numbers of wounded are arriving at Ostend. Many refugees are reaching England. Some thousands of stricken Belgians arrived in England from Antwerp on Friday. Great numbers of them are penniless, and were carrying their belongings in bundles. Advices from Amsterdam state that half a million refugees are now in Holland. King Albert left Antwerp yesterday and has arrived at Sclsate, near Ghent.
