Confirmation has been received of the statement that the seven German destroyers which reached Kiel on September 3in a battered jgS condition, after a reported battle in which it was alleged that others gjjf were sunk, were damaged in a fight between two German squadrons. . ||ff It is stated that the destroyer flotilla was engaged in hunting for passenger ships in the Baltic when it met a German cruiser squadron. >§f Each mistook the other for a Russian fleet and a lively battle was fought.
