Reports received from Vienna state that during serious rioting the -i '! windows of the War Ministry were smashed. It is stated that the 'Russians have captured altogether a thousand
Austrian guns.
The Vienna newspapers are trying to divert attention from the campaign in France. The mass of the people pin their faith on Germany, but anxiety is deepening, and commerce and industry are paralysed throughout the monarchy. The unemployed problem is serious. Hundreds are engaged in constructing fortifications at Vienna, where 70,000 Galician refugees have arrived.
