CANADIAN STEAMER SUNK.

FOURTEEN MISSING.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received September 20, 5.5 p.m.) Ottawa, September 19. The steamer Lingan collided with the steamer Montmagny in the St. Lawrence during a fog. The Montmagny sank, and fourteen of those who were aboard her are missing.

The Montmagny was a twin - screw steamer of 1269 tons, owned by the Canadian Government, and attached to the Department of Marine and Fisheries.
