LAWN TENNIS.
PROVINCIAL ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the Auckland Provincial Lawn Tennis Association was held last evening, when there was a fair attendance of delegates.
A communication was received from the secretary of the New Zealand Association asking the approval of the Auckland Association to a proposal to donate £'100 to the Dominion Relief Fund, £50 of this amount to be paid out of the funds of the Xcw Zealand Association and £50 to be contributed pro rata by the affiliated associations. It was pointed out that such a contribution could not legally be made unless authority was provided to meet this and other cases by an amendment to the ''War Contributions Validation Act, 1914." After discussion, it was decided to favour the donation of £50 by the, New Zealand Association, but that any further subscriptions should be a matter for affiliated associations in connection with local relief funds.
The New Zealand Association advised the adoption of a standard trophy order, sicd intimated that forms would be supplied to clubs without charge. Owing to the fact that many tenni* players have joined the expeditionarv force it was decided to inform the New Zealand Association that it was impossible to furnish a correct return of the membership of clubs at the present time, and to request that in the meantime the list furnished "last year be taken as correct. The secretary was requested to inform ail clubs that the question of nest year's inter-club matches will be dealt with athe next monthly meeting. '
