THE RUGBY GAME

NOTES AND COMMENTS

The Auckland schools' representative team left for Hamilton yesterday afternoon in order to play a match against the Waikato schools' team. The game will be played this morning, and the Auckland boys will return home this afternoon.

According to a Press Association message, the Otago touring team was defeated by Wairarapa on Thursday by 17 points to 8. The game was said to be fairly interesting.

The Wellington team which took the Ranfurly Shield from Taranaki will be played against the Otago touring team, this afternoon.

THE LEAGUE GAME

NOTES AND COMMENTS.

The first annual smoke concert of the Sunnyaide Football Club will be held this evening. The first annual dinner and smoke concert of the Bomuera United Club will be held next Friday evening. The question of obtaining a ground was discussed at this week's meeting of the Auckland League and a committee consisting of Messrs. McDonald, Spinley, Benson and Culpan was appointed to inquire into the matter.

The league confirmed the junior advisory board's recommendation that the weight limit for the proposed fifth grade competition be fixed at Bst 71b, with an allowance of 71b after three matches. Tho referees who controlled representative and international matches are to be presented with cap 3. The Auckland Referees' Association has passed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. R. A. Spiulev for his valuable assistance during the past season. The Auckland League has decided to present each member of the winning teams in the grade competitions with a cap, this to have a distinguishing mark to show the grade of the recipient.
