SUM OF £453 RECEIVED

The fund opened by tho Herald for the relief of distress caused by the Huntly mining disaster now totals '£453 Bs. Subscriptions yesterday totalled £5&

Chief among the amounts forwarded yesterday was one of £25 from an unknown source.

■ .Contributions to the fund may be sent to the Heaeld Office, Auckland, or paid direct at the Herald Office, where a subscription list will be found. All contributions will be acknowledged in the Herald. . The suras received yesterday were as follows :—

"A fund has also been opened at the Star. Office, and has been headed by the Brett Printing and Publishing Company, Who donated a sum of £200..

Hamilton, Friday

• Daring a meeting of the Waikato County Council the chairman, Mr. J. P. Bailey, moved that the council extend condolences to the relatives of the miners who had lost their lives in the recent Huntly disaster. The motion was carried in silence.

On the suggestion of the chairman it was decided to form a Huntly mine disaster relief fund in the county, the clerk being appointed secretary.
