BASKETBALL.
SCHOOL TOURNAMENT. The school basketball tournament was commenced yesterday afternoon, and will be continued to-morrow. The results of the first round are as follows: — Newmarket defeated Newton East A by 13 points to 0Belmont defeated Mount Albert B by 4 points to 2. Ponaonby A defeated Maungawhau by 6 points to 4. Bemuera A defeated Parnell by 11 points to 0. Mount Albert A defeated Mount Eden B by 16 points to 0. Normal B defeated Northcote 3 by 2 points to 1.
