(Received September 18, 215 a.m.)
Johannesburg, September 17, General Botha and General Smuts are taking steps to counteract the misapprehension existing in the minds of a section of the Dutch population that there is some connection between the resignation of General Beyer and the death of General Delarey, who was accidentally shot by the police when motoring in company with General Beyer. The Government accepted the resignation of General Beyer, with repret, a few hours before. It is not intended to appoint a successor at present. The police have since surrounded the bandits for whom they were searching when General Delarey was shot.
