FREEMAN'S • BAY GRIEVANCE.
a-'rom the HEllilD of September 17. 3801.')
Freeman's Bay has loud cause of complaint. Wo have had on more than one • ■ooasion to lift our voico in condemnation of the neglect of the authorities who have taken her rate«, but given no street repairs in return, but a still creator infliction has been visited upon the inhabitants of this district, more especially en those residing in the streets near the Kay itself It w.13 a. great evil to have the rates of the district taken and ex--ended in Queen Street, but it is a refinement of suffering to soo the sowago of I,'i/H-n Street deposited nightly on the I'Mfh at Freeman's Bay. This, however, i.. the case. It may bo seen lying over the :>each when the tide is out,.and if the sen-') of sight is not sufficient proof, that of smell will corroborate the fact. The ■ >ci'\ij.i(MS and owners of property in the bay complain loudly of it. They declare, ni;d very justly too, that if the practice is nllowed to continue, the whole district will w rendered uninhabitable when the fine v.-n'.her sets in. that they dread the breaking out of disease in their families, dii'l thev inquire by what right this place jhould be selected as tho depository for the tilth of the town.
