INCREASE IN SCHOOLS.

Welllngto::, Tuesday. Tin-: annual report of the Department of Education, presented to Parliament tonight, shows that at the end of 1913. there were 2255 public schools open in the Dominion, an increase of 41 over the previous year. During last year 64 schools were closed, but some of these were reopened in another form. The greatest increase in the number of schools was in the Auckland education district. The mean average weekly attendance in the Dominion was 169,530, or 5038 more than in 1912.
