INCREASE OF SHEEP

[lIT TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.]

Wellington, Tuesday. The annual sheep returns were laid on the tabic of the House of Representatives this evening by the Prime Minister. When Mr., ilas.sey mentioned the return, an Opposition member remarked that he hoped the number of sheep was increasing.

Mr. Massey: I am very glad to assure the hon. gentleman that they are increasing.

Mr. Massey, proceeding, said the increase of sheep in the North Island in the year had been 10,513, and in the South Island 596,440, a total of 606,953 for the whole Dominion.
