FOUR RUSSIAN ARMIES INVADING GERMANY.
SIEGE OF KONIGSBERG COMMENCING. IMPORTANT SUCCESSES AGAINST THE AUSTRIANS. HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND PRISONERS TAKEN. 'Rsccivod September 16, 12.15 &.m.) London, September 15. The Russian Embassy states that the German army commanded by General Hindonburg has been defeated near Mlawa, on the frontier of Russian Poland. The Germans are evacuating Poland. The Russians have resumed the offensive in Prussia, and are commencing to besiege Konigsberg. The German losses are estimated at 50,000. An official statement from Petrograd says that the Russians operating against the Austrians. and Germans took 130,000 prisoners, 450 field guns, 2000 pieces of fortress artillery, 4000 transport waggons, 12 flags, and seven aeroplanes. A message from Rome says that four Russian armies are hastening to invade Germany, two in East Prussia, a third in Posen, and the fourth and strongest in Lower Silesia.
