BATTLE WON BY ALLIES GREATEST IN HISTORY.
IRREPARABLE BLOW TO PRESTIGE OF GERMAN ARMS STILL NEED TO PREPARE FOR LONG WAR. London', September 14. The London Times, in a leader, says: "The time has come when we can safely say that the greatest battle in history has been fought and won. The Germans are everywhere retreating, and the long unbroken prestige of German arms has received an irreparable blow." The Times's military correspondent lays stress on the fact that a new army cannot be ready for many months. He adds: '"'Germany is on the defensive, but it will require all the efforts of the allies to bring her to terms. There is need to prepare for a long war.''
