QUESTIONS BY SOCIALIST.

EFFORTS FOU PEACE.

AMBASSADOR'S INFLUENCE,

KEIR HARDIE HOWLED DOWN London, August 27. In tlio House of Commons to-day, Mr. Kcir Hardie, Socialist M.P. for Merthyr Tydvil, asked why the Oovernment rejected the suggestions of Princo Licbnowsky, German Ambassador in London, for a settlement between Britain find Germany. Sir Edward Grey explained the facts. He added that the Ambassador did not make suggestions differing from tho German Government's. Princfc Lichnowsky worked for peace, but the real authority did not rest with him. That was one of the reasons why Britain's efforts for peace failed. (Cheers.) Mr. Iveir Hardie made several attempts to speak, but was howled down by his fellow-members.
