MILK VENDOR FAILS,

LABOURER'S LIABILITIES.

The sworn statement of Arthur Edward Attwood Leonard, milk vendor, of Victoria Street West, who recently filed a petition in bankruptcy, has been filed with tho officii assignee, Mr. W. S. Fisher. Tho debtor set."? forth his liabilities to eight unsecured creditors at £231 Ga 3d, and his assets at £153 10s, including book debts estimated to produce £100. The deficiency is thus shown at £77 19s 3d.

Tho debtor states that ho owns no red estate, but that his wife possesses an allotment with an old building thereon in Drake Street, Freeman's Bay. He estimates this property as being worth between £200 and £250. It is subject to a mortgage of £150. The allotment was purchased -with money left to bankrupt's wifo under her fathor's will.

Tho first meeting of creditors in tho estate is fixed for Tuesday afternoon next at tlio official assignee's office.

Notification was received by Mr. Fishor yesterday that on the previous day at Hamilton William Henry Angill, labourer, of llotorua, had filed a petition to be adjudged a bankrupt Tne latter has sworn his liabilities to eight unsecured creditors at £05 14s Bd, and his assets at nil.

In his statement tlw debtor says he acquired tho business of the boardinghouso known as tho Carlton in Rofcorua, putting all his available money into the venture. It turned out disastrously for him, and in November, 1913, he was unable to meet his liability to tho mortgagee who eventually took the place over. ' Since then bankrupt has been engaged in labouring work, earning on an average £2 10s per week. Imprisonment for debt proceedings having been instituted against him ho filed. Debtor states further that 1,0 can make no offer to his creditors. Tho latter liavo been summoned to a first meeting at Rotoma on September 11 next.
