NATIVE LANDS SURVEYS.
Sir,—ln the Herald of the 13th inst. there is a cry from Te Kuiti of the lack of surveyors. There is no dearth of surveyors there or elsewhere. The trouble is the slowness in dealing with the Departmental work, and the custom of endeavouring to cut clown surveyors' fees. Some litto tune ago Mr. Masscy issued a new scale of fees to meet the times, but the Lands Department fights shy of adopting it, and would like surveyors to work as near a dead loss as possible. Licensed Surveyor.
