ONE-TREE HILL AFFAIRS.

A meeting of the One-tree Hill Road Board was held last night. Mr. H. B. Morton presided, and there were also present: Messrs. T. Rowe, H. Dobbio, J. Dykes, C. Slyfield, H. Shrewsbury, and A. Payne.

The chairman and Mr. H. Dobbie were appointed a deputation to confer with the board of trustees of Cornwall Park on the matter of the rating of the park and the constitution of the board. It is understood that the trustees of Cornwall Park intend to promote a Bill in Parliament to secure the exemption of the park from taxation. At present the taxes on Cornwall Park bring in a revenue to tho One-tree Hill Board of about £850. If tho board were to be deprived of this revenue, remarked Mr. Morton, they would require to have Gome voico in the management of tho park Tho chairman gave notice that he would move at tho nest meeting that the board levy a general rate of five-eighths of a penny in the pound, a hospital and charitable aid rate of one-sixth of a. penny in: tho pound, and a drainage rate of 'onefourteenth of a penny in the pound on the capital value of all ratable property in the district for the year endW March 31,1915.
