"The Bulletin of the Imperial Institute March, 1914," contains tho usual fund of invaluable industrial, commercial, and agricultural information. The articlo on gums and fibres will give. New Zealand experts a wider view of the products of -other countries. The same publisher also announces some " Stories from Wagner's Operas," told by Gladys Davidson. The book tells tho plots of the operas in an interesting story form, and should prove useful to operagoers and lovers of Wagner. It contains a frontispiece portrait of the master. Mr. Werner Laurie announces the publication of a further work by Pierre Loti on " Morocco," translated by W. P. Baines. Pierre Loti was a member of a diplomatic mission to the Sultan of Morocco, and in this book he gives a fascinating account of the journey. To the making of dictionaries there is no end. The latest popular publication of this class is "Routledge's New English Dictionary' (Routledge, London), which is of the usual composite AngloAmerican variety, based partly on " Webster" and * partly on English authorities. An extra number of "The Bookman, 1914," is "Charles' Dickens," being a collection of criticisms, appreciations, and recollections of tho great novelist by wellknown writers, with reproductions of many pictures and illustrations dealing with his subjects by famous artists. Biographical sketches and " the true story of Dora Copperfield " completes this excellent memorial publication, native of rank. ■ Few books of modern classic fiction have exercised the intellectual capacity of the novel-reader more than "The Mystery of Edwin Drond." Many attempts have been made to determine the ending that Charles Dickens intended. And now it is announced that a new version of the continuation of the story, to bo entitled " The Mystery of Edwin Drood, by Charles Dickens: Completed in 1914 by W. E. C," is soon to be published by Messrs. J. M. Ouseley and Son.

" The Sheep and Wool Industry of Australasia," by H. B. Smith (Whitcombe and Tombs, Christchurch), is a. lucidlywritten book which should be of interest and use to most pastoralists and farmers. It deals in a very brief way with the history of sheep-farming at the Antipodes, but its main chapters are devoted to such practical matters as sheep selection, suitable breedb for fat lambs, shearing, woolsorting and classing, and all the commercial aspects of the wool and pelt industries. Chapters are also devoted to 6uch subjects as fellmongering, care of sheepskins, killing and dressing sheep, handling rabbit and other skins. It is really surprising how much valuable information tho author manages to supply on these various subjects, but he has the happy knack of expressing himself in a very terse manner. The volume ie well illustrated and strongly bound, and is likely to become a welcome addition to the farmer's bookshelf.
