LAUNCH LANDINGS.

Sir, — mo to add my protest to that, of others on the grievance of upriver people. Surely the steps at the foot of Queen (Street should be made available for public use. \\ uv should our present discomforts be added to by having to land at a place so verv inconvenient for many reasons ius the western side of Hobson Wharf? Tho parcels we bring to town wo have to carry round to Queen Street, and on our return we have to carry our purchases a distance. This is a handicap we should not bo subjected to unnecessarily. It is especially a great trial to our women, children, and older people to be forced to land at a point so distant from the shops and tram-stops. Much has been ?aid about the state of the road approach to Hobson Street, and as to its being badly lighted. All this is true, but this is not the actual caufe of our trouble. It is tho fact that for a reason not yet explained wo have to put up with a hardship which could be saved. The steps at the Harbour Board office foreshore are the natural landing we might expect to be allowed to use. Our using them cannot cause any inconvenience to traffic. I hope the powers that be will reconsider the position and allow us to use the steps, which were, we presume, provided for the general convenience of the public, and not for a favoured few. Wi Duniop. Paremoremo.
