CHANGES ANNOUNCED.
PROMOTIONS AT AUCKLAND

Wellington, Monday. Following upon the recommendation of General Sir lan Hamilton, InspectorGeneral of the Overseas Forces, that a considerable number of alterations should be made in the defence staff, the Governor has approved of the following appointments which will bo gazetted this week: — Honorary Major, James o'Sullivan from director of equipment and stores to be hon. assistant quartermaster-general at headquarters, and be attached to the Now Zealand staff corps while so employed.
Captain F. B. Mabin, retired list, from director of accounts to be hon. assistant quartermaster-general at headquarters, with tho honorary rank of Major, and to be attached to the New Zealand staff corps while so employed-
Major H. H. Browne, N.Z.S.C, from assistant quartermaster-genera] at headquarters, to command an area group, vice Captain J. E. Barton, N.Z.S.C. Major Browne will go to Paeroa. Captain H. C. Nutsford, N.Z.S.C, to be assistant adjutant and quartermastergene ral, vice Captain R. S. Matthews, N.Z.S.C. Captain Nutsford has been instructor in mounted duties in tho Auckland district and will now be employed at (district headquarters, Auckland. Captain R. S. Matthews, N.Z.S.C, from assistant adjutant and quartermaster-general to command an area group, vice Captain J- R'. Henderson, N.Z.S.C. Captain Matthews is at present stationed at Auckland and will now be in command at Nelson.
Captain J. R. Henderson, N.Z.S.C, from officer command ! an area group, to be assistant qu...termaster-general at headquarters, vice Major H. H. Browne. Captain Henderson, who is now in command of the Milton area group, will come to Wellington.
Tho following assistant-adjutants and quartermasters-general have been appointed assistant quartermasters-general in districts:—Captain W. L. Robinson, Captain W. H. Meddings, Captain H. C Nutsford, and Captain J. T. Bosworth, all N.Z.S.C.
Major (temporary lieutenant-colonel) G. N. Johnston, Royal Artillery, from director of ordnance to be inspector of artillery coast defences, guns, and ammunition.
Lieutenant (temporary captain H. M. Edwards, Royal Engineers, from assistant director and instructor in engineers' duties, to bo inspector of engineers. Major T. W. McDonald, N.Z.S.C, from officer commanding an area group, to bo assistant genoral staff officer in a district, vice Captain J. D. Grant. V.C., Imperial General Staff. Major McDonald is at present at Paeroa, and now goes to district headquarters, Dunedin. Lieutenant (temporary captain) G. C. S. Dyer, N.Z.S.C, to command an area group, vice Major T. W. McDonald. Major F. E. Johnston, North Staffordshire Regiment, who has been appointed to the command of tho Wellington district for one year, as from July 16, has been granted the temporary rank of colonel while so employed. Colonel Johnston is a son of the Hon. C J. Johnston, of Wellington, and was born in the district of which he will so soon assume the military command. Colonel Chaytor, tho present commander of the Wellington district, who has been appointed adjutant-general in succession to Lieutenant-Colonel Collins, who is returning to England, will take up hie new duties as from July 16.
