Waihi, Tuesday. For failing to notify the clerk of the Court at Waihi of a consignment of liquor sent into" the Ohinemuri no-license district, G. Crosby and Company, wine and spirit
merchants, of Auckland, were to-day fined 5s and costs. The. firm's representative, at a previous sitting of the Court, produced
Momentary evidence to show that the
notice had been posted in amplo time, but His Worship said that he had been advised by the Postal Department -that under the
system in vogue the Department coUid not havo been responsible for the ■ delay. At the same time, he did not in the circumstances see fit s to impose a heavier fine, as the breach was apparently not , a serious one, arid as the defendants were evidently under the impression that they had complied with the Act.. . '•. '
