MOTORING.
NOTES AND fJOMMFNTS
The new by-laws of the Raglan County Council came into force on June 24. Motorists will be interested in the repeal of that part of the by-law which prohibited motor-car traffic on the Ngaruawahia to Waingaro Hot Springs Roads. The right to use the road, however, is hedged in with regulations. Motor-cars must be drawn to the side of the road, and the engines stopped while horsemen, stock, or vehicles drawn by horses pass. The Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce has started an agitation to get a stretch of road, about 18 miles in length, made by the Government between Te Kuiti and Poro-o-tarao. This is stated to be the only absolutely roadless part between Auckland and Wellington, it is therefore considered quite reasonable to ask the Government to provide the missing link in the Great South Road.
