ALLEGED PERJURY.
REGENT SLY-GROG CASE.
CHARGE AGAIKST A NATIVE.

Whanoajiei, Tuesday. 'ABorr a month ago a man named Valentxe Abrahams was convicted and sentenced to a month's imprisonment tin a cJLtge of sly grog-selling at Moengawahine, On that occasion evidence was tendered by Constable A. McGuire, of Auckland, ■who, in consequence of a visit to the district, in tho guiso of a labourer seeking work, was able to give mater al evidence for the prosecution, a portioa of which was corroborated by Sergt. Moore, of the local police.
During the hearing of the case a native named Harry Kaikou stated on oath that Scrgt. Moore offered him £20 and asked him to procure a bottle of whisky from Abrahams.
The sequel to this allegation was heird st the Magistrate's Court to-day before Mr. E. Page. S.M., when a charga of perjury was preferred against the native. On the application of the police the caso iras adjourned until to-morrow.
