Thb following are tbo Bank of England returns for the week ending June 25-.— Coin, £38,303,000; reserve, £29,675,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 47.10 per cent; notes in circulation, £28,703,000; publio deposits, £18,074,000; other deposits, £44,916,000; Government securities, £11,047,000; other securities, £39,995,000. MONEY MARKETS. Bank rate, 3 per cent. Short loans, 25 per cert. Tlireo months' bills, 2 7-16 per cent. Paris bank rate, 2£ per cent Berlin bank rate, 3 per cent. CONSOLS AND COLONIAL STOCKS. Consols, £74 17s 6d. New South Wales, 3J per cents, 1930-50, £88. Queensland, 3 per cents., £79. Victorian, 3$ per cento., 1929-49, £89. Othor stocks unchanged. PRICES OP METALS. Bar silver is quoted at 2s 1 15-16 d peastandard ounce. Copper, £60 2s 6d to £50 15s: electrolytic, £63 ss. : Tin, £135 10s to £137 ss. Pig iron, 51s 2d. SUGAR. Present price, 9s 2-Jd; first marks, Us 3Jd. WOOL In the Bradford wool market little business is being done. Merinos show fair inquiry, while crossbreds are slow, WHEAT. Tho market is less depressed, the demand having improved. Australian, on spot, 38s 3d. FLOUR. The market is dull, with an easier tendency, Australian in store is realising 26s 6d. " OATS. Tho demand is steady. La Plata JuneJuly shipments, 15b lO^d; Cartons, JuneJuly, 21s 3d. BEANS AND PEAB. Quiet and unchanged. BUTTER. Tho market is very alow. Colonial arrivals have been small. Australian is nominally unchanged, and Now Zealand very scarce. Choicest salted is nominally worth 110s to 112s; Danish, 116s to 117s. CHEESE. Prices aro lower, owing to inferior quality. Now Zealand white 635, coloured 645. SHEEPSKINS. At the sheepskins sales there was a good attendance, and spirited competition. Four thousand Australasians wero offered, and all wore sold. Australian combings were ;|d dearer; crossbreds clothings id to id dearer; Merinos unchanged. New Zealand crossbreds combings id dearer; clothings, id dearer. APPLES. The Wiltshire's apples offered at Liverpool showed very variable quality, many being undersized. Tasmania)! realised 6a 6d to 8s 9d for best Stunners r New York, 10s 9d; South Australian, 8s to 9s 6d. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received tho following cablegram from their London house under date 25th inst. ;— "Merino sheepskins: Crossbred combing sheepskins havo advanced -Jd. Short and shorn crossbred sheepskins havo declined id. Good demand." FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET. Owing to the wintry weather business in the fruit and produce markets has been rather dull during the week, and prices show a slight decline in one or two lines of fruit. Sydney mandarins in tho earlier part of the week sold well. Local apples and poar9 aro unaltered. Other lines have weakened. Tho potato market has firmed, and better sales are being made. Southern shipments have been smaller than last week. The onion market is well supplied, and a good many poor-conditioned samples are being offered. • Fresh eggs were forwarded in larger quantities and declined in price. Farmers' butter was scarce. Root crops, such as swedes, kumaras and carrots, aro selling fairly well. FIELD PRODUCE. Potatoes: Prime Southern, £5; medium, locals. 2s 6d to 3s per cwt. Onions: Imported, best, 6s 6d per cwt; second quality, 3s 6d to 4s per cwt. <■ DAIRY PRODUCE. Butler: Farmers', in prints, 10*<1. E?i»: Fresh, Is 6d to Is Bd. FRDIT. Annies: Local, coloured, orlra superior, case, dessert, 9o; good, 7s 6d to 8s: medium, 6s to 6s 6d; best cooking, 7s Od to 8s: good, 6s. Pears: Dessert, best, 10a to lis; good, 78. Grapes: Hothouse, per lb. Is 8d to 2s. Tomatoes: Hothouse, per lb, '6d to Sd. Oranires: Local, case, Poorman, As Od; Island, case, 6s to 7s, according to condition. Mandarins: Sydney, 17b 6d gin. Lemons: Local, prime, caso, x 0« to lis; local, rowrh and coarse, case, -is. Passion fruit, 108 per box. Peanuts, per lb, 2id. Pines, crate. 10s. Cocoanuts, sack, lis. POULTRY. Hens, each: Good condition, 2b to 2s 10d: poor. Is 6d to Is Odj special purobrod pullets from 3s to ob 4d. Table roosters, each: Good, up to 4s 8d; others, Is lOd to 3s 6d. Ducks, each. 2s to 2s lOd.
