STRUGGLE WITH INTRUDER.
How she was attacked by a strange man in a lonely bungalow at Talsarnau, was described to the magistrates in Merionethshire by Mrs. Ivor Jones recently. William Boyd, & fitter and ex-soldier, was charged with housebreaking and assault.
Mrs. Jones said she was spending the week-end at her father's bungalow, accompanied by her two children and her sister. They did not sleep in the bungalow but in a neighbouring cottage. The nearest bouse is half a mile away.
Mrs. Ivor Jones added that she left the cottage for the bungalow about nine o'clock in the morning. Sho had just entered the bungalow when she heard footsteps behind her. Turning round she saw the prisoner, who closed the door, and without uttering a word caught hold of her and flung her down, stunning her. Tho neit thing sha remembered was seeing his faw close to hers and feeling him beat her on the head with his clenched fists.
He also kicked her on the side of the head, whereupon she said: "It is all over with me now." He replied : " Yes," which was the only word ho spoke. She said: " Let me go to my dear little children and I will give you all the money I have." He made no reply. She eventually managed to get free, and rushed out through the back door. She continued screaming from the time sho saw the accused first until she fell in her sister's arms in the roadway outside tho gate. Afterwards she saw the accused running towards Harlech. A police-sergeant said he arrested the accused'near Harlech. The prisoner said : "I have not killed the woman, have I? It was all in a fit of temper." When charged with housebreaking he said: " When a man is hungry he will do a good many things. It was a great temptation. It is a good job I did not go further." Charged with assaulting Mrs. Jones he said : " It is a good job it did not come to murder. When a man loses his temper he may do anything," The accused had nothing to say when charged. He was committed to the assizes.
